Description

Salt Lake City Corporation (the "City") is soliciting competitive sealed proposals from qualified contractors to provide rodent and insect extermination services and other related pest control services at various City facilities. The City owns and maintains numerous structures that house City administrative offices, water treatment plants, warehouses, maintenance shops, golf course buildings, justice court, fire stations, police, and other facilities. The City contracts with a pest control company to provide the needed expertise for effective pest control services for most of the City locations. However, the resulting contract will not include the Department of Airports, which is serviced through a separate contract. A wide variety of services from simple preventative spraying to specialized programs for LEED-certified buildings are needed to address the unique requirements at each location. Currently, various facilities require pre-scheduled monthly or quarterly services to control crawling insects by spraying inside and/or outside, rodent control by bait stations and traps, and wasp and hornet traps when necessary while other facilities are serviced “as-needed”, serviced by the contractor only when called for a specific pest control problem. Calls to locations that are serviced “as-needed” average approximately 150 to 200 per year. Services at all facilities should follow an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plan, which is ideally developed and carried out by the selected contractor with input and coordination of City personnel. The selected contractor is to choose control strategies with minimal impacts to human health, the environment and non-target organisms. Special emphasis for IPM plans for City facilities designated as “sustainable buildings” which maintain a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification shall be required. Insurance required.
