Description

The Town of New Castle is seeking bids for snow and ice removal services on certain sidewalks in the Town. The Contractor shall perform the maintenance, furnish all labor, equipment, materials and supplies for the routine removal of snow and ice from certain sidewalks in the Chappaqua Hamlet Parking District in the Town of New Castle as designated as area 1 on the attached map and highlighted in red. (This includes Sections of North Greeley Avenue, King Street and lower King Street, South Greeley Avenue and Woodburn Avenue). This area includes a minimum of +/- 45,931 square feet. The Contractor is to remove snow and ice from all walkways, sidewalks, stairs and alleyways at any time the snow reaches a depth of a half inch or as necessary to allow and maintain safe passage at all times. The Contractor shall remove snow from the sidewalk in front of the residences and commercial businesses using acceptable industry standards. The Contractor must be available to provide snow and ice removal service seven (7) days a week including holidays. The Contractor shall also remove any excess ice whenever conditions require that the ice be removed to ensure the safety in and around the premises. The Contractor shall not be responsible for the removal of snow or ice in any private parking lot, public parking lot, public street, or private street. The Contractor shall provide snow and ice removal services from November 2 to April 30 (the “Season”). In addition, the Contractor shall remove snow and ice from sidewalks located outside the Chappaqua Hamlet Parking District in the Town of New Castle, designated as areas marked 2-4 on the attached map, as directed by the Building Inspector of the Town of New Castle or the Commissioner of Public Works, or their designees. This area includes approximately +/- 29,560 square feet. Under Section 111-12 of the Town Code, property owners must keep the sidewalk in front of their premises free and clear from snow and ice and shall, within six (6) hours after the snow ceases to fall, remove the snow from such sidewalk; provided however, that the time between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. shall not be included in such six (6) hour period. When directed to do so, the Contractor shall remove snow and ice from sidewalks outside of the Chappaqua Hamlet Parking District that have not been cleared within the required time period. The term of the resulting contract shall be fixed for two (2) years from the date of the Contract. The Town reserves the right to extend the contract for three (3) one-year extensions based on the Contractor’s performance; upon the same price, terms and conditions as provided for in the Contract. Written approval of both parties shall be required to extend the Contract.
