Description
This project must be constructed to a fully functional shared use path that varies in width from 8- to 12-feet from the Silver Spring Transit Center to the Montgomery College Parking facility (7740 Fenton Street) in Silver Spring. The new section extends the existing shared use path from the old Progress Place site near Ripley Street, along the WMATA/CSXT railroad corridor, around the Silver Spring B&O Railroad Station, which is a historic property, across a new pedestrian bridge over US 29 (Georgia Avenue), along the west side of Selim Road to a new tunnel under Burlington Avenue to King Street, where it will connect to the already-constructed segment of the trail.
