Emergency Repairs to Water Services Citywide, Boston, MA

This work involves emergency repair and/ or replacement of water service pipes, water mains, hydrant lateral pipes, valves, hydrants and other appurtenances on an emergency basis and/or as directed by the Engineer. The locations of the work are not stated in the Contract Documents. The Contractor shall anticipate that work will be performed in all sections of the City of Boston. This work will also involve the replacement of leaking and/or non-leaking domestic water service pipes, valves and other appurtenances up to 6-inches in diameter on both public and private property. Replacement of water service pipes in private property is typically the responsibility of the property owner as defined in Article III Section 2 of the Commission’s Water Use Regulations. Under this Contract, the Contractor is responsible for replacement of water service pipes and appurtenances on private property. Payment for the replacement of water service pipes in private property will be provided at the unit prices bid under the applicable C4-5L, C4-6L, C4-7L, C4-8L C12-5, and L1-2A items. The Contractor will be given work at intervals as the Commission deems necessary. The Contractor shall be required to immediately respond to emergencies in accordance with the requirements of these specifications. The Commission does not guarantee that the work will be continuous or that quantities indicated in the bid pages will be fully utilized. The Contractor will not be due any additional compensation for quantity under-run. The contractor shall be available for work under this contract upon receiving the Notice to Proceed for the one-year period beginning on January 1, 2022 and continuing through December 31, 2022. MBE goal is 9% and WBE goal is 6%.
