With a grant from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission and some city funding, the plan is to restore the first floor, including work to frame, remove and rebuild rotted materials and add new flooring (currently, only subflooring exists). On the second floor in the 1850s section, all rotted joists and subfloor will be replaced, stairs added in the 1960s to the 1840s section will be removed, the opening will be reframed to match the existing one and stairs will be relocated to the original location with construction materials of the era, including a correct hardwood staircase and railing. On the outside, structural room repairs will be done to the 1850 section, as well as masonry repairs, window replacement (only when too rotted to repair) using cypress and reclaimed glass where possible, and construction of a new, period-appropriate front stoop with reclaimed sandstone on the 1840s section. The project also will include an ADA-accessible entry through the recessed porch on the 1850 addition.
