Pierson High School Gym Roof and HVAC Project, Nogales, AZ

The project involves removal and replacement of the entire roof membrane system including upgrades to the structural and HVAC systems. Remove all existing roof material down to the roof deck on the locker/kitchen, grandstand, upper gym/stage and mechanical roof levels, repair damaged wood roof deck materials, install additional structural members to support the roof deck, replace roof drains, clean drain leaders, install two layers of 1-1/2" (3" total) insulation board, 1/4" separation board, and new PVC roof membrane system as outlined on the Drawings and in these Project Specifications prepared by the Architect At the locker and grandstand roof levels clean vertical joints and cracks on the roof side of masonry parapet walls, tuck point masonry joints, fill cracks and sealcoat masonry to the level of the parapet. Remove roof top evaporative coolers and replace with new air conditioning units. Install new electrical service to the new units as part of this project. Install new steel support beams and steel grating walkway platform at roof top mechanical area. Install steel guardrail and stair for platform. Adjust the curbs of the remaining roof mounted mechanical equipment per the roof membrane anufacturer's standards. Secure conduits and/or utility lines utilizing membrane Manufacturer approved blocks and/or walk pads. Adjust or replace ductwork as indicated on mechanical plans. Install new 2x6 roof purlins "sistered" to existing framing throughout the upper parapet level roof (over gymnasium and stage). Remove the existing suspended ceiling system beneath the trusses to provide access for this work. Remediate the panels that have been painted with lead containing paint. Paint the underside of the roof deck. Remediate lead containing paint on the underside of the wood deck at roof areas above the Grandstand and Dining areas prior to repair of damaged roof deck and material surrounding the roof drains.
