Description

The purpose of the proposed project is to replace Rockingham County Bridge No. 106 over Wolf Island Creek on SR 1902 (Dibrell Road), which is structurally deficient. Bridge No. 106 is 180 feet long. The replacement structure will be a four-span, 24-inch cored slab, approximately 240 feet long with 4-foot deep caps providing a minimum 27-foot, 10-inch clear roadway width. The proposed bridge will include two 10-foot travel lanes with 3-foot 11-inch offsets. A temporary causeway will be constructed on the north side of the bridge to access the bents during construction. The bridge length is based on preliminary design information and is set by hydraulic requirements. The roadway grade of the new structure will be approximately one-foot higher than the existing structure. The approach roadway will extend approximately 206 feet from the north end of the new bridge and 402 feet from the south end of the new bridge. The approaches will be widened to include a 28-foot pavement width providing two 10-foot lanes with 4-foot shoulders. The roadway will be designed as a Local Collector using Sub-Regional Tier Guidelines with a 55 miles per hour design speed. The Combined MBE/WBE Goal for this project is 4.0%.

Bonds required.
