Replacement of I-90 Bridges over Miller Grove Road, Herkimer County, NY

This project is for the replacement of the Interstate 90 Bridges over Millers Grove Road (CR-53). The following work is planned under this project: Utilities: Relocate and replace existing drainage structures located in median of Interstate 90, east of bridges. Replace cross culvert on the north side of Millers Grove Road with new 15” Reinforced Concrete Pipe. Clean existing drainage structures and drainage system as detailed in the plans. Highway: Provide sediment and erosion control as detailed in the plans. Set up work zone traffic control as detailed in the plans. Box out shoulders and temporarily pave full depth median on Interstate 90. Full depth reconstruction with profile adjustment of Millers Grove Road beneath Interstate 90. Construct northwest corner stone lined channel. Install guide rail as detailed in the plans. Mill and Fill Eastbound and Westbound Interstate 90 as detailed in the plans. Provide signing and pavement markings as detailed in the plans. Bridge Elements: Excavate existing embankment as required to provide bottom of footing elevation. Construct reinforced concrete abutments HP pile foundations. Erect steel girders totaling 66’ in length from centerline of bearings to centerline of bearings. All structural steel is ASTM A709 Grade 50. Structural steel shall be metalized, as described in the plans. Construct a cast in place reinforced concrete superstructure slab, 57’-0” wide. Construct concrete fascia barriers with snow fencing, approach slabs, and sleeper slabs. Remove existing bridge superstructure and substructures to removal limits shown in the plans. Construct wingwall and complete final grading. Restoration: Grade, topsoil, and establish turf to limits of work. Remove all contractor equipment and clean-up site.  Completion date is November 17, 2023. MBE goal is 9.5%, WBE goal is 9.5%, and SDVOB goal is 4%.
