New Fire Station 5 Construction Project, Sandy Springs, GA

New Construction: The Project includes the construction of a new fire station (“New Station”) in accordance with plans and specifications to be included in the bid solicitation documents. The New Station will be two (2) stories consisting of approximately 10,912 square feet, located on City-owned property at 7800 Mount Vernon Rd, currently vacant. The New Station will contain a two (2) bay apparatus storage room with adjacent support areas, decontamination shower, gear wash area, gear storage, equipment storage, living areas, kitchen, conference room, offices, sleeping quarters, restrooms, fitness room, and other associated spaces. The New Station will consist of a combination of structural steel frame with metal stud infill, poured concrete retaining walls and CMU construction with exterior brick veneer, precast concrete banding and window surrounds, and architectural asphalt shingle roofing. The Project includes all site grading and development further outlined below, building construction, mechanical, electrical, plumbing components, vehicular drives, and utility connections for the New Station. All items will be purchased and installed by the Respondent receiving contract award (“Successful Respondent”) as part of the contract. Some items will be purchased by the City and installed by the Contractor. At the Project site, the City has vacated and demolished the existing single family house, and various other components of the existing site under a separate contract. Some underground utilities serving the existing house may not have been removed, nor were all portions of the existing paving, sidewalks, retaining walls, etc., including the existing abandoned septic system. Responding contractors are directed to field verify what elements are left following the City’s demolition efforts. Demolition of any / all remaining items as required to construct the New Station complete, are to be included in the bid in the second phase of the procurement.
