Pile Jacketing FY 22, Kent & Sussex Counties, DE

The improvements consist of furnishing all labor and materials to install pile jackets on pier piles at BR 2-214A (Cow Marsh Road over Cow Marsh Ditch), BR 2-086A (Savannah Road over Muddy Branch) and 3-425 (SR 26 over Vines Creek). Install pile jackets on the pier and abutment piles on BR 2-035A (Carpenter Bridge Rd over Murderkill River). Steel shells of cast in place concrete piles originally had a protective coating applied such as coal tar epoxy. Due to age of the bridges and environmental exposure, the protective coating has deteriorated and oxidation has resulted in loss of section of the steel shell. To protect the steel shell, pile jackets will be installed. This will help prolong the useful life of the bridges. At BR 2-086A, the pre-cast concrete piles have scoured somewhat due to tidal currents and jackets will be installed to protect the pile. Follow other incidental construction in accordance with the location, notes and details shown on the plans, and as directed by the Engineer. All work on this contract must be complete within 166 Calendar Days.
