The prime scope of the Project is to upgrade existing W1, W2 and W4 tail tracks by about 309 feet each from end of line beyond BART Millbrae Station, to allow BART to store an additional 3 rail cars on each track to make 10-car trains available for ease of service start up at Millbrae Station that currently have a 7-car train storage capacity. The improvements are very essential to increase system wide operational capacity as the BART Warm Spring (WSX) and the San Jose (SVBX) Extension projects are coming online. Accordingly, the Project will relocate Friction Bumpers, and extend traction power and train control, lighting, asphalt concrete and cement concrete cart path, retaining walls, and high security fencing. The new tail tracks would be located on an enclosed swath of land owned by BART.  Please refer to Technical Specifications Section 01 11 00 Summary of Work for more information.  DBE participation goal is 25%.
