Description

The objective of this project is to identify and install alternative power technology and establish Pittsburg Power service at the WTP to supplement the energy consumption of the WTP with off-grid, less expensive energy. The treatment plant currently draws over 4 million kilowatts of electricity from regional energy provider- Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), resulting in over $1 million in energy costs each year, which are passed on to residents. The Water Treatment Plant is located in the City of Pittsburg in Contra Costa County, CA, see Figure 1 below. A general map of the citythe Water Treatment Plants service area is shown in Figure 2
