Description

The City of Bakersfield is requesting bids from experienced and reputable contractors for providing a Contract for Construction of HUD-Funded Curb, Gutter, and Sidewalk/Benton Area. Award, if any, resulting from this invitation to Bid shall be for one (1) year period. The work to be done shall conform to the following specifications: 1. Furnishing and placing the required forms. 2. Furnishing and placing expansion joints where required. 3. Placing steel frame and cover and bar reinforcement for catch basins. 4. Furnishing, placing, and finishing cement concrete for curbs, gutters, sidewalks, catch basins and cross drains as specified. 5. Wing walls in connection with part-circle culverts will be paid for as standard curb. 6. City forces will remove broken or defective curb, gutter, or sidewalk below sub-grade elevation. 7. City forces will supply Class 2 Base for fill material on job site, Contractor to hydrate, move, and place material as needed. 8. Contractor is responsible for finishing sub-grade elevation to 90% compaction prior to placing concrete. 9. Contractor is to notify Project Manager for inspection of sub-grade prior to placing concrete. 10. Concrete placed without sub-grade inspection shall be removed and replaced by Contractor at their own expense. 11. Contractor to remove all debris from job site daily, including washout material. 12. Contractor to pour in a continuous fashion, no skipping sections unless approved by the City’s Project Manager. 13. Contractor and City Project Manager shall meet and agree on quantities prior to Contractor invoicing. 14. Contractor to ensure all work has proper drainage, any standing water areas will be removed and replaced by Contractor at their own expense.
