The water main transmission main has already been designed and will be constructed following permitting. Major components include the following:
Groundwater Wells: The existing wells located at the Border Avenue Facility were taken out of service due to poor water quality. Three (3) new groundwater wells and appurtenances will be drilled north of the 405 Freeway, in the vicinity of 185th Street and Van Ness Avenue. Well No. 12 will be located behind Hamilton Adult School, Well No. 13 will be located at La Carretera Park, and Well No. 14 will be located at Descanso Park.
Water Transmission Main: A new 3-mile long, 24-inch diameter water transmission line will be constructed from the new well locations in the area of 185th Street and Van Ness Avenue and head south on Van Ness Avenue to the existing Border Avenue Booster Pump Station and Reservoir. The existing Border Avenue Reservoir and Booster Pump Station, located on Border Avenue between 222nd Street and Plaza Del Amo, will be modified as needed in order that the water from the new wells can be treated, stored, and distributed to the east and central areas of the City. DBE participation GFE is to be made. 250 working days completion. Bonds and Prevailing Wages.
