Fire Training Tower Renovation, Santa Clara, CA

In 2022, the City completed a comprehensive condition assessment of the Fire Training Tower to evaluate the impacts of long-term exposure to heat, fire, and water, as well as general wear from nearly 30 years of continuous use. The assessment identified deterioration and deficiencies including, but not limited to, corrosion and damage to interior stair systems, concrete cracking and spalling, degradation of fire-resistant materials in burn rooms, electrical system exposure issues, drainage deficiencies, and potential building code and seismic vulnerabilities. Based on the findings of the assessment, the City now intends to advance the project into the design and construction phase. This Request for Proposals seeks qualified consultant services to evaluate the current site, perform necessary hazard sampling and testing, and develop design documents based on, but not limited to, the recommendations of the prior condition assessment, including preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates suitable for bidding and construction. This project is funded through Measure I, a voter-approved general obligation bond measure approved by Santa Clara voters in November 2024.
