Reconstructing the I-57 and IL 16 Interchange, Coles County, IL
This project consists of reconstructing the interchange configuration from a cloverleaf to a raindrop diamond. The reconstruction includes the removal and replacement of the I-57 structures over IL 16, removal of the I-57 structures over the Lincoln Prairie Grass Trail, and replacement of those structures with a cast-in-place box culvert. Additional work includes pavement patching, milling, HMA resurfacing, HMA pavement (full-depth), PCC pavement, shoulders, curb and gutter, PCC sidewalk, medians, storm sewer, pipe culverts, precast box culverts, guardrail, guardrail shoulder stabilization, pavement marking, signs, pavement removal, paved shoulder removal, drainage structure removals, earth excavation, seeding, and any other work necessary to complete this section. This project is located on I-57 at the I-57 interchange with IL 16, east of Mattoon in Coles County. Work on I-57 begins 0.5 miles south of IL 16 and continues to 1 mile north of IL 16. Work on IL 16 begins just east of Swords Dr. and ends just west of Lerna Road.
