The Virginia Department of Transportation invites bids for Smart Scale Road Improvements / Lanes Addition on Rt 220 From: 0.08 Mi. S. Of Rte. 613 To: 0.08 Mi. N. Of Rte. 613 in Franklin County. Prequalification required.

The Town of Rocky Mount is requesting proposals for paving and sidewalk improvements along Route 40 for the three (3) west bound lanes, including the center lane and turn lanes. Pavement replacement will begin at mile marker 33.67 and end at 34.15 for a total length of 0.48 miles. All pavement replacement activities shall be completed at night. Existing pavement will be milled 2 in the project area and replaced with 2 of SM-9.5D. After the milling and repaving is completed, all pavement markings will be replaced with epoxy markings (Type B, Class III). Pedestrian crosswalks and ramps will be constructed along the route and reconfigured at the intersection of Route 40, School Board Road, & Market Place Drive to bring them into conformance with current VDOT standards for Curb Ramps and Pedestrian Access Routes. Potential right-of-way and utility impacts will need to be coordinated prior to installation. There is a bid alternate for the 2 milling and repaving of the two (2) east bound lanes along the 0.48-mile project section. The replacement will follow the same installation requirements as the base bid items.
