Bidder shall provide labor, equipment, tools and materials required to effectively remove tree stumps as the specifications require. The tree stump removals shall be performed to industry standards and shall keep the designated areas maintained at a high level of quality, considering aesthetics, safety and municipal code in the work performed. A.Stump and Root Removal Prior to stump/root removal or any operation that would require work below the existing site grade, the Contractor shall be responsible for contacting Dig Alert for underground utilities and service line location and identification.The Contractor shall perform stump grinding and root grinding consistent with industry standards. Stumps, root flares/root ball, taproot, fibrous and surface lateral roots larger than two (2) inches in diameter shall be removed to a minimum depth of six (6) inches below grade and, depending on the species and site conditions, up to twenty-four (24) inches below grade. Grade is defined as the elevation of surrounding soil that has not been displaced by the per-existing tree, including its roots. Should extra root removal be required, Contractor may contact the City Arborist and, at the City's discretion, allowance may be made for additional compensation. All cavities, depressions, and voids shall be filled with the grinding spoils. Soil compaction shall be performed at every four (4) inches of backfill. No soil or grass mounds, humps or depressions shall be left upon completion of stump removal. Q&A due by 07/19/19 at 4Pm. Prevailing wages.
