Trades: *A&E Professional Services: Architecture, Engineering, Consulting & Planning, CO-01 - *General Engineering Contractor GEC; Subcontractor Opportunities

The San Miguel County Parks & Open Space department is requesting, from experienced structural manufacturers, estimates of cost to construct and install steel stairs, railings and observation deck from engineered drawings. The location is at the base of Bridal Veil Falls at the east end of Telluride, Colorado. This section of trail across the rock is steep, without footholds or handholds, and is slippery when wet. To improve and enhance public safety, the County’s Parks & Open Space department would like to install steel stairs to cross the boulder. It is also important for the stairs and viewing platform to be styled with influences from our mining history and with as little intrusion into the natural surroundings as possible. The proposed stairs are located within a few hundred feet of the end of the Bridal Veil Trail, which is at a switchback on Black Bear/K69 Road at the base of Bridal Veil Falls, in the box canyon east of Telluride. The Bridal Veil Trail is steep, primitive and rugged, and provides hikers with access along the creek, and up to the bottom of the falls. The area of the site receives significant snowfall, heavy mist from the waterfall, and is prone to avalanche. Engineering and Design Scope of Services Proposed cost to construct and install steel stairs, railings and observation deck with mount for an interpretive sign, from engineered drawings Proposed cost to install constructed steel stairs, railings and observation deck with mount for an interpretive sign Stairs are to be approximately 4’ wide by 12” deep and vertically spaced 8” apart Material shall be McNichols 19-w-4 bar grating with serrated surface finish The total length of the stairs, through the observation deck, is approximately 30’ long. The observation deck to the interpretive sign is approximately 21’ long by 6’ wide. The railings are to be approximately 42” high The viewing deck is to be made with an interpretive sign mount, for a sign measuring approximately 36”x24”.
