The City of Martinsville, Virginia, acting through its Department of Telecommunications, is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to expand the current Fiber To The Home footprint. The intent of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to obtain proposals from firms who can install Optical Fiber and associated products on utility poles to prepare each street with the Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) product in the City of Martinsville. Services to include but not limited to: • Make Ready: Adjust previously placed attachments either up or down on approximately 193 utility poles to meet the required spacing for the new Optical Attachment • Place Fiber Optic Cable on Utility Poles: Requires drilling holes through poles, placing proper attachments, and down guying where necessary. • Placing 2 Fiber Flat and or Round cables on utility Poles • Hang four and eight port splitters • Place ground-mounted Pedestals • Place and prepare 96 port and 24 port splice enclosures • Splice Optical Cable • Where space is not acceptable, Utility Pole change-replacement/ change out is required • Place Dead-End assemblies and in-line tangents on utility poles for optical cable • Prepare Footers for 30” X 24” X 36” Pad • Trench / Plow / Bore underground Cabling • Place the telecommunications cabinet on the Pad mentioned above • Secure Electrical Permits Inspections etc. for the above cabinet • Secure proper lane closure and signage required by the City. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
