Cherrylee Asphalt Project, El Monte, CA

The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, supervision, transportation, and incidentals necessary to complete asphalt paving and related site improvements at Cherrylee School in accordance with the Contract Documents and District requirements. Work includes coordinating with the District to minimize disruption to school operations and other facility projects; providing traffic control, safety measures, and site protection; and complying with all applicable regulations. Playground Area Improvements (approximately 41,000 square feet): The Contractor shall sawcut, remove, and legally dispose of existing broken asphalt pavement to a depth of 3 inches. The Contractor shall furnish and install new 3-inch hot mix asphalt over prepared subgrade, including tack coat, compaction, and finishing to required grades and tolerances. Parking Lot Improvements (approximately 9,000 square feet): The Contractor shall break out and remove existing concrete steps and ramp as required. The Contractor shall grade the area, prepare and compact subgrade, and furnish and install 4 inches of aggregate base rock followed by 3 inches of hot mix asphalt. The Contractor shall furnish and install five (5) bollards, including all posts, footings, hardware, and complete installation. The Contractor shall also furnish and install approximately 252 linear feet of new concrete curb with an integral concrete swale along the property line on the school side of the existing fence. The curb shall begin at the edge of the field and extend to the sidewalk. The concrete swale shall match existing adjacent swale in profile and finish. Work shall include installation of 3-inch galvanized sleeves within the curb at locations designated by the District to accommodate future chain link fencing. The Contractor shall maintain a clean work site, remove all debris, and restore disturbed areas upon completion. At the Districts option, the Contractor shall furnish and install a solar reflective (cool pavement) coating by Streetbond (or equivalent) over the completed asphalt surface in Playground Area. The coating shall include all surface preparation, cleaning, and application in accordance with manufacturer specifications, and shall have a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI/SR) value no higher than 40. Work shall include protection of adjacent surfaces and re-striping as required. Contractor shall provide unit pricing per square foot for this optional work. Color to be determined by District.
