Description
The Work described in these specifications shall consist of the surveying of the entirety of the Villages water distribution system to identify leaks and provide a comprehensive final report to the Village. 1. LEAK DETECTION The Contractor shall complete surveys covering the entirety of the Villages water distribution system (approximately 94 miles). The Contractor shall survey all fire hydrants, accessible mainline valves and, if necessary, select service connections shall be surveyed by physical contact. If any fire hydrants or mainline valves are found to be inaccessible due to required repairs or maintenance, the Contractor shall notify the Village of their location. The Contractor shall utilize the following designated listening distances, with two points no more than 500 feet apart for metallic pipes, no more than 300 feet apart for Non-Metallic AC/Concrete pipes, and no more than 150 feet apart for Non-Metallic PVC/HDPE pipes. The Contractor shall, during the surveying process, log suspected leaks as found during the Work. The Contractor shall conduct secondary confirmations on all suspected leak locations, a minimum of four hours following the initial logging of the suspected leak. The Contractor shall be required to investigate every suspected leak location, regardless of size or scale of suspected leak. During the survey process, the Contractor shall maintain a log of suspected leak locations. This log shall be provided to designated Village staff at the end of each workday. The Contractor shall also provide daily reports to designated Village staff, providing an update on the previous workday and informing the Village of proposed survey plans for the current workday.
