Grove St. Bridge Over Center Brook Bridge No. U-01-004 (CRH) Bridge Replacement & Bridge No. U-01-004 (CRJ) Pedestrian Bridge, Upton, MA

Bridge No. U-01-004 (CRJ) carries Grove Street over Center Brook. The bridge is located approximately 300 south from Main Street (Route 140). The existing reinforced concrete slab superstructure and mortared stone masonry substructure will be demolished and removed. The new bridge will consist of cast-in-place concrete footings and pedestal walls to support a precast concrete rigid frame, precast headwalls supporting S3-TL4 railings, cast-in-place approach slabs, concrete U-wingwalls and precast concrete guardrail transitions at all four corners of the bridge. Temporary water diversion and control will be required. Approach roadway work includes full depth roadway reconstruction, mill and overlay, guardrail, HMA driveways and sidewalks. An existing 48 RCP culvert located northwest of the bridge will be relocated with a new concrete headwall. Utility work will include a new water main, gas main relocation, and telecommunications duct bank temporary support. A new Pedestrian Bridge No. U-01-004 (CRJ) and abutments are proposed to the east of the existing bridge. MassDOT prequalification of contractors with the class of work as, Bridge Construction for the project with an estimated value of $1,657,678 will be required.

Hop Brook - Phase IV Remediation, Northborough, MA

The project area is a Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) disposal site (RTN 2-13150). The project consists of the remediation of the site by excavation and offsite disposal of contaminated soil and wetland sediments in and around several former dump and burn areas. Levels of lead in some of the remediation areas exceed the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) limit of 5 milligrams per liter (mg/L) and require in-situ treatment prior to excavation and offsite disposal. Debris, including glass bottles, refuse, and/or miscellaneous electrical components, is present in some removal areas. Some corroded drums containing miscellaneous electrical components or other solid debris may also be present, requiring removal. Miscellaneous surface debris (tires, metal debris, etc.) may also require removal and offsite disposal. Bidders must be pre-qualified by the Massachusetts Dept. of Transportation (MassDOT) Highway Division in Hazardous Waste Remediation & Transportation to bid.
