Grove St. Bridge Over Center Brook Bridge No. U-01-004 (CRH) Bridge Replacement & Bridge No. U-01-004 (CRJ) Pedestrian Bridge, Upton, MA
Bridge No. U-01-004 (CRJ) carries Grove Street over Center Brook. The bridge is located approximately 300 south from Main Street (Route 140). The existing reinforced concrete slab superstructure and mortared stone masonry substructure will be demolished and removed. The new bridge will consist of cast-in-place concrete footings and pedestal walls to support a precast concrete rigid frame, precast headwalls supporting S3-TL4 railings, cast-in-place approach slabs, concrete U-wingwalls and precast concrete guardrail transitions at all four corners of the bridge. Temporary water diversion and control will be required. Approach roadway work includes full depth roadway reconstruction, mill and overlay, guardrail, HMA driveways and sidewalks. An existing 48 RCP culvert located northwest of the bridge will be relocated with a new concrete headwall. Utility work will include a new water main, gas main relocation, and telecommunications duct bank temporary support. A new Pedestrian Bridge No. U-01-004 (CRJ) and abutments are proposed to the east of the existing bridge. MassDOT prequalification of contractors with the class of work as, Bridge Construction for the project with an estimated value of $1,657,678 will be required.
