This project will improve the existing left turn lanes at the Barracks Road and Emmet Street intersection, add a new right turn lane on Emmet Street, widen existing medians to provide pedestrian refuge islands, and replace the existing traffic signal infrastructure at this intersection. Additionally, the project will replace portions of existing sidewalks within the limits of the intersection, as well as extend new 5 concrete sidewalk approximately 1,500 linear feet up Barracks Road to Buckingham Road. Finally, the project will provide utility/drainage improvements and install a new bus shelter meeting CAT (Charlottesville Area Transit) requirements.

The City of Charlottesville is requesting bids for IFB # 27-04 1st Street North Retaining Wall Rehabilitation. The contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, equipment, tools, materials, and incidentals necessary to perform demolition of approximately 15 feet of existing "rubble" retaining wall and replace with a new RW-3 retaining wall and related sidewalk, pedestrian and landscaping reconstruction and/or restoration, per the specifications and limits shown on the provided construction plans. All work shall be performed according to the construction plan documents, related VDOT specifications, and related City specifications.

Work to be performed shall be inclusive of any labor, equipment, and materials necessary to prepare and install joint sealant to all floor cracks. Restoration of removable wall panels for access, disturbed pavement, lawns, grass, or other existing features shall be incidental to the pricing provided in the quote.
