The City of Johnson City is soliciting proposals from qualified vendors to furnish artistic guardrails and stair handrails for the City’s installation at Sesquicentennial Park Natural Playground, 106 W. King St., Johnson City, TN. This site is located adjacent to King Commons Park.. All sections of guardrail will be attached to a pre-existing concrete retaining wall. The vendor shall be responsible for a railing design consistent with the “Natural” theme of the park itself with an envisioned concept as follows: The two walls on either side of the park are sloped, and the design for these guardrail sections shall visually represent the different natural features found at increasing elevations in the East Tennessee landscape along this slope. For example, the railing panels that are installed at the lower end of the slope might include caves, water bodies, and wetlands. As the railings progress up the slope, the designs would shift to landscapes at higher elevations such as valleys, hills, and forests. The wall at the back of the park is generally level and shall incorporate design work that visually represents the highest elevations of the area including mountains peaks and the sky. Panel designs should include a wide variety of flora and fauna that reflect the natural biodiversity present within the East Tennessee region. A list of common native animals is included for reference. Each of the natural landscape area designs – caves, wetlands, mountains, etc. – should incorporate animals and plant life that are typically found within those areas. For example, designs featuring a wetland landscape should include animals such as great blue herons and/or American bullfrogs, and designs featuring forest landscapes should include animals such as bears and/or bobcats. Plant life should also be appropriate for each type of landscape represented. Bond required.Prevailing wages.
