Bentley Lake Road Well Installations Project, Marietta GA

Cobb County

Owner Reference: C0156

Bid Date: 06/11/2020 at 12:00PM

Pre-Bid: 05/27/2020
Pre-Bid Meeting will be held on May 27, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. starting at the project site. The project is located at: 2000 and 2050 Bentley Lake Road, Marietta, GA 30062

This project involves the drilling of two independent drinking water wells at two properties. The addresses are 2000 Bentley Lake Road (home site) and 2050 Bentley Lake Road (church site), Marietta, GA. Remove soil and rock cuttings piles following well installation. A 10-inch diameter hole will be rotary drilled through the soil overburden to the top of rock, which is expected to be approximately 60 feet deep at 2050 Bentley Lake Road and approximately 50 feet deep at the 2000 Bentley Lake Road. A 6-inch diameter PVC casing will be installed to the top of rock. Joints in the 6-inch casing will be properly secured. The drive shoe will be set in the rock to depth recommended by the State of Georgia, to prevent overburden or undesirable groundwater from entering casing. The well annulus will be backfilled (grouted) with bentonite pellets from 20 feet below the ground up to the ground surface. A 6-inch diameter hole will then be drilled to a minimum depth of 240 feet at the 2050 Bentley Lake Road site and a depth of 200 feet at the 2000 Bentley Lake Road site. This drill depth can be shallower, if adequate yield is obtained. The expected well yield at both properties is 5 gallons per minute (gpm) or greater. The driller will measure the water discharge flow rate during the drilling process. As directed and approved by CCWS, drilling may be approved to go deeper in order to obtain the minimum well yield. Silt fencing will be required for sediment control throughout the project. Tree limb trimming may be required at the 2050 Bentley Road site, but only as directed and approved by CCWS. If the yield is less than 5 gpm, the well will be inspected by the driller and results shared with CCWS, using a down hole camera in preparation for hydrofracturing. A permanent pump and all necessary equipment (drop pipe, pressure tank, electrical wiring, etc.) for a domestic well operation will be installed based on the depth of the well, the estimated flow rate and the static water level. For bidding purposes assume a 5 gpm pump set at 500 feet with a 50-foot static water level. The well head will be surrounded with a 4-inch thick concrete pad sloping away from the well adequate for a fake rock cover to be set on the concrete pad; the fake rock will be insulated for freeze protection and will be provided with a lock for security. Minimum fake rock well pipe cover is Dekorra Model 107 Riverbed with insulation bag blanket from Dekorra, or equal. Concrete pad will fit footprint of fake rock. Three-inch PVC ports will be installed through the pad as electrical and piping conduits under the pad and extending toward the respective property buildings currently being served with water service. If required, a storage tank (aka a pressure tank) to be located at the well head may be installed and be able to be installed under the fake rock. The storage tank may be set in the basement, or appropriate location within the building, for each property and will provide 40 psi at adequate flow to each fixture currently located on the property, if this unit cannot reasonably be set at the wellhead. This line item will be covered under Bid Item 10 Extra Work Allowances, if required.
