The project consists of two locations sites, Red Reef Park snorkel reef and the north jetty as further detailed herein. The Work at the Red Reef Park snorkel reef will enhance an existing recreational artificial reef which is currently a popular tourist destination for snorkeling. At present, six (6) existing reef modules are located between R-214 and T-215 approximately 200 feet offshore of Red Reef Park, in Boca Raton, FL. The Work will integrate 21 additional artificial reef modules to the existing snorkeling reef amenity to form a complete snorkeling trail. Each module will be constructed from limestone substrate in the form of nine (9) boulders of three to four-foot nominal dimension. Modules will be comprised of a single base layer consisting of six (6) boulders, with three (3) boulders placed tightly within the void spaces above to form the second layer. The Work at the north jetty (Boca Raton inlet) is located approximately 992 ft south of R-222. The northern jetty uses a sand bypass weir feature, allowing the passage of sand into the inlet throat. In 2011, the elevation of the structure crest was permitted to +5.5 NAVD88. At present, the maximum observed cap elevation is below +4.0 NAVD88.
