This work shall consist of the trenchless installation of welded steel pipe. The Contractor shall supply all necessary traffic control devices, labor, materials and equipment to perform the proposed work. All work and materials shall meet the requirements of section 330 of the 2018 Standard Specifications. Construction Method The pipe shall be dry bored and jacked to the elevations and grade line as shown in plans, details, or as directed by the Engineer. All welding shall be done by AWS certified welders. The bore shall be held to a minimum to insure that there will be no settlement. Pipe which has been damaged shall be removed and replaced at the Contractor's expense. All Voids around the pipe shall be completely filled with Grout to the satisfaction of the Engineer and shall meet the requirements of Section 1003 of the current Standard Specifications. Where it is practical, spoil can be contained and used on site to reconstruct slopes and shoulders in lieu of borrow as directed by the Engineer. If the spoil from the site is unsuitable it shall be the Contractors responsibility to dispose of it properly at an approved waste site. Backfilling of the bore pit shall be done in accordance with Article 300-7 of the Standard Specifications and shall be compacted to the density required by Subarticle 235-4. All slopes and shoulders shall be restored to their original condition and shall be graded to drain. The Contractor shall be responsible for the locating of existing utilities and making their own investigation of subsurface conditions. Measurement and Payment Welded steel pipe, installed in accordance with the provisions herein and accepted, will be paid in accordance with Section 330-4 of the 2018 Standard Specifications. Such prices and payments will be full compensation for all work as described herein, including but not limited to all materials, labor, tools, bore pit installation, bore pit removal, pipe installation, and all incidentals necessary to accomplish the work. The date of availability for this contract is August 01, 2022. The completion date for this contract is January 31, 2023. SBE Contract. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
