Wilkes University will construct new sidewalks, granite curbing, ADA ramps, pedestrian period lighting, street tree installation, tree lawn pavers on West South Street between South Main Street and South Franklin Street; South Franklin Street between West South Street and West Ross Street. there will also be a raised midblock concrete crosswalk on Formalin Street with overhead flashing signal and signage. The lighting is in a period or historic style. The proposed lights utilize the existing Sternberg standards which are typical to downtown Wilkes Barre. The new walks are made up of both concrete sidewalk and unit pavers. The walk and pavers are in same style as the recently completed PennDOT TAP improvements on West South Street and South Franklin Street. The pavers define the tree lawn along the curb. The new walks will be replacing the deteriorated paver walks that are there now. DBE goal 5%. Prequalification required.
