GSWC is seeking the services of a qualified paving contractor to remove existing asphalt paving and replace it with new asphalt paving and a portion with just aggregate base. The project is located at GSWC’s Calipatria service area. General Scope of Work: Sawcut, remove and haul away existing AC pavement and subgrade, approximately 6,200 square feet, replace with 4” thick AC pavement over 6” thick Aggregate Base Class 2, clean apply (1) heavy coat of OVERKOTE. Sawcut, remove and haul away existing AC pavement, approximately 1,600 square feet, replace with 4” thick Aggregate Base Class 2. Sawcut and cold plane existing pavement. Sawcut and remove existing pavement and subgrade, construct concrete strip (asphalt flush), 1’ wide, 8” deep where the new asphalt joins the existing asphalt. Construct concrete mow strip (asphalt flush), approximately 75’, between AC pavement and Aggregate Base, per detail. Restripe lot. All work should be in compliance with the Greenbook Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction, latest edition. The contractor is responsible for protecting all underground facilities in place. Subgrade scarifying shall consist of loosening the surface and removing debris. Scarifying shall be considered subsidiary to work done in connection with subgrade preparation. After adequate drying and debris removal, the surface shall be brought back to a satisfactory grade and re‐compacted to 90%. Prior to laying base or setting paving forms, the subgrade shall conform to the moisture and density requirements. The finished sub grade shall be compacted to a relative compaction of not less than 95% for a depth of not less than 0.5 feet below the base level. After compaction, the soil shall be sterilized with an approved, environmentally safe soil sterilant. Asphalt Pavement shall be a 4" thick layer of asphalt concrete on top of a 6" aggregate base with a relative compaction density of 95% minimum. All AC paving shall be thoroughly cleaned and swept prior to applying the seal coat. All surfaces where seal coating is applied shall not be entered upon for at least 24 hours after application. A seal coat shall be applied to the finished surface at the rate of 0.2 gallons per square yard. Ensure City of Calipatria and ADA code compliances including truncated domes, signage, and logos.
