As part of the Pearson-Arastradero Management Plan, the Pearson-Arastradero Preserve Steward is tasked with habitat restoration, removal and control of non-native, invasive weeds, trail maintenance and repair, educational activities, research, and riparian habitat management, and recommending an annual habitat restoration plan. Essential is overseeing community engagement and habitat restoration activities at the Preserve. The Steward is expected to have knowledge of and skills in the latest habitat restoration techniques. The Steward is responsible for recruiting for, organizing, and managing volunteer workdays to accomplish the habitat restoration goals. The Steward will develop and manage an afterschool program for local youth that combines environmental education with hands-on opportunities to improve the habitat. The stewardship program is to seek volunteers from a variety of age groups and demographic backgrounds and the Steward is to incorporate best practices in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion to create a rich volunteer experience. This is a five year solicitation. Bonds required.
