The existing law enforcement range has been used for a number of years on an existing 25+ acre city owned location for a number of years. As the City of Princeton rapidly expands, the need for an expanded law enforcement capability and staff size is growing as well. There is an immediate need to plan, design and construct a training facility as Phase 1 under a larger masterplan umbrella for a freestanding Justice Center | Police station in phase 2. This would entail moving the current operation out of City Hall and into a freestanding location off highway 380 on the existing owned site. While the site is somewhat constrained with active TXDOT expansion negotiations underway, in addition to Corps of Engineer property along the rear, there is an immediate desire as part of this project to provide: A masterplan for the overall site to ensure Phase 1 is located and scaled in a position that best suits the project for future expansion and fully design Phase 1 for construction while utilizing the planning efforts to showcase a larger, rendered concept story that will help underwrite a new municipal bond to fund Phase 2. Phase 1 Scope: – Site Masterplanning for the 25 acres, including a Phase 1 Training facility [space program through construction documents]. Phase 1 is funded for full project delivery at $2M [including, design, construction & FF&E] Conceptual program: 1. Training Room and Facility for in –house training 2. Secondary training location for hosted training opportunities 3. Possibly CMV inspection location in Phase 1 4. SRT Storage/Training/Locker Rooms/Staging 5. Serve as a Sub-Station location for officers with exterior parking & fencing This Phase 1 project will include a small scale training facility and planning exercises to address any needs and reorientation of the gun ran, site for a future facility to house 150+/- staff using several notable local police departments as the basis of design for planning purposes. This phase 2 would include fleet maintenance components. Phase 2 Project Scope: – Freestanding Police Station | Justice Center [program through construction documents – Future Funding [Not-Included in this Project] We’re seeking a design team that can approach this project in a highly unique way, simplistic, minimalist, high-impact, low-cost and even in a potentially unconventional way all while maximizing and preserving the department legacy and local character to create an expanded location. Traditional wood framing would be considered allowable as well if need be but needs to have a level continuity and connectivity. The goal is a small space telling a big story with a simplistic, minimalist and modern footprint, all under a zero-scape approach to maintenance.
