This is a bridge advanced shoring for two structures (SN 016-2047 & SN 016-2049). The work to be performed is at Pier 1 and Pier 2 at the structures carrying Ogden Avenue over I-90/94 (Kennedy Expressway) which have significant deterioration. The substructure columns on both structures are in critical condition with multiple columns on Pier 1 and Pier 2 having significantly reduced vertical and lateral capacities. As an advanced contract before the full bridge rehabilitation, the Department is proposing to install shoring consisting of vertical steel W-columns on steel base plates with grouted anchor rods on the pile cap to support the underside of the pier cap adjacent to identified columns. Double-angle cross frames with welded end gusset plates and bolted intermediate gusset plates will be installed after shoring columns are plumb and fully anchored. Location: This project consists of advanced shoring at structures along I-90/94 at Ogden Avenue. The total length of the project is 110 feet (0.02 miles). The project is located in the City of Chicago in Cook County.

The work in this contract consists of furnishing all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for the installation, repair, maintenance or replacement of damaged guardrail, fence, attenuators, and other highway appurtenances; the repair of high-tension cable median barrier; and minor concrete repairs at locations throughout District 3. This includes the minor adjustment of connecting parts of the installation as specified elsewhere. The work to be done at any location will be indicated on the work order by the Engineer. The damage to repair is generally a result of automobile accidents; therefore, the need and locations of any repairs are random in nature. The work also includes providing traffic control.
