The primary objective for this bid is to successfully complete the end-to-end process of building a new elevator shaft and installing a new elevator car system that traverses the three floors of 209 E Main Street. The existing building contains a small passenger elevator, but due to its age, size and location it will not meet the future requirements of Sandburg. The new elevator shaft is planned for construction within an existing nonemergency stairway that runs from the 1st floor to the basement. Selective demolition of the second floor and rooftop will be necessary to build the shaft and access the space, as specified in the architectural drawings. This elevator should have the capability to enable limited access to the basement and second floor.
